Frequently Asked Questions

Who is eligible to apply?

Graduating seniors from Marblehead High School. The two primary considerations are need and academic performance.

Can I apply if I plan to attend a program that’s less than four years?

No. Currently, we only provide scholarships for four-year undergraduate programs.

How do I apply?

Digital applications are preferred and available through our website at the bottom of the application page.

What if the April 1 deadline is approaching and I’m still awaiting documents (e.g., aid award letters from universities)?

Submit all the information you currently have and explain in your application which elements are missing. After the April 1 deadline, please upload any missing documentshere. Your application will be considered incomplete until we have all the necessary elements.

If I am awarded a scholarship, how is it processed?

At the end of every semester, you are required to send us your transcript via this link. Once we receive that semester’s transcript, we will issue the scholarship money directly to your school to pay for the following semester. This is stipulated by our trust, which requires awardees to be in good academic standing.

What is the definition of ‘good academic standing’?

Good academic standing is defined by the school you’re attending. If you are on academic probation, for example, you will need to improve your performance in order to continue to receive award money from OPK.

What if I need to take a semester off for personal reasons?

Just let us know through email. Depending on the situation and the timing of your leave, we will continue to honor your scholarship upon your return to school.
